Intelligent packaging revolution for medical and health protection products

There is no doubt that the coronavirus has become a global crisis. In order to avoid infection, people have become more aware of personal hygiene, which has led to a sharp increase in the demand for personal hygiene products in the past few months. Due to insufficient supply, counterfeit and inferior products are spreading rapidly in the market, which makes people begin to realize the safety of sanitary products.

Consumers need to know the following product information before buying:

1) Where does it come from? (country of origin)
2) When was it made? (use period/shelf life)
3) What are the functions? (Product Standard)
4) Is it safe? (Non-counterfeit product)

Generally speaking, it may take a long time to verify this information, and RFID technology provides a perfect solution to solve these problems.

Brands can use RFID to record the entire value chain of products from manufacturing to sales. In fact, RFID is difficult to be counterfeited. Consumers can use their smartphones to identify product information and processes. Compared with other technologies such as QR codes and anti-counterfeiting printing, RFID provides a higher level of security, and the verification process is simpler and more direct. All in all, RFID guarantees the safety of products and data.

People may question the cost of investing in RFID. For low-priced products, adding a few cents to the cost may be a big problem. But in fact, RFID technology is widely used in the retail industry, and there are many cases and studies that have proved the application value of RFID, especially in the fast-moving consumer goods industry. Obviously, the benefits obtained in the value chain after adopting RFID (product safety, logistics visibility, inventory management, and customer experience) exceed the cost, and RFID technology will definitely become a trending technology in the medical/health product market.

Remember, safety and health are priceless.

Starting from March 2020, Cinda IOT has cooperated with ZeroTech IOT to provide RFID smart packaging and tracking solutions for medical masks.

In this project, RFID tag manufacturer Cinda IoT has designed a series of RFID smart packaging for medical masks, which can be applied to the packaging process by medical mask manufacturers. More importantly, the packaging design is fragile and will be destroyed once opened.
“When we design smart packaging, we spend a lot of time focusing on product safety.”

Said Mr. Huang, general manager of Cinda IOT Marketing Center. According to business needs, mask manufacturers can choose to use smart packaging in each medical mask or each box. Once the mask products are affixed with RFID tags, all business activities including packaging, transportation, inventory entry and exit to the point of sale, and even consumer behavior can be tracked and recorded using RFID equipment and systems.

“I am very happy to use our RFID tracking platform and DragonSpace supports this project.”

Henry Lau, CEO of ZeroTech, said: “Our cloud platform is currently used by well-known brands in the retail industry to manage apparel product data. The stability and speed of the platform have been verified.”

“From a technical point of view, there is no difference between tracking medical masks and tracking clothing, but the former is very meaningful, especially in the current situation.”

With the DragonSpace cloud platform, consumers only need to scan the RFID smart packaging of medical masks with their smartphones, and relevant history and product information will be displayed. No matter at any time or place, consumers can now identify whether the outlet cover is a counterfeit product within one second.
